Thank you for playing Getaway! Here are some common questions and game tips, as well as contact info if those don't help.

I tapped Space Hockey, but the other player seems to be stuck?

Space Hockey is for two players to play against each other on one device. The most common way to play is with two people facing each other—one player holds the phone and swipes one side, while the other player swipes the other. You can also play while lying down, holding the phone sideways, with one player on each side. Think of it as an arcade-style air hockey game in the palm of your hand.

I tapped "New Multiplayer Game," what now?

When you start a multiplayer game, you'll see an "Invite Player" button in the middle of the screen. When you tap that, it should open up your device's share options. We recommend sharing the link with one friend using your favorite text messaging app. When your friend clicks that link, they'll launch Getaway and see a "Join Link" with the game ID you created. Once they join, you’ll see each other's neon paddles move, and your screens will indicate that both players are ready.

Does my friend need to have the app to play?

Nope! Your friend can join the game from almost any device with a web browser, including most phones, tablets, and laptops. No downloads required! We designed Getaway so you can play anytime, anywhere, with anyone—just share your invite link and start the match! 😀

Multiplayer mode sometimes glitches out—what's happening?

Multiplayer is real-time, fast-paced action, and disruptions or changes in network connections over WiFi or cellular can sometimes cause the game to get out of sync. We are constantly working to improve this experience, but from time to time, you may encounter a situation where the game gets stuck.

If this happens, use the green arrow on the left to return to the main menu. When you resume your multiplayer game, you should be able to pick up where you left off. Score, rounds won, and who serves next are all saved after each rally.

Because of the way mobile networks work, situations where either player is traveling fast can be especially tricky. This includes playing while riding a train or in a car on the highway.
